Animal Care Assistant 

Barb grew up in a small military town in Petawawa Ontario. Naturally, she joined the military at 20 years old, and stayed for 5 years before deciding to switch paths in life. She knew from a young age that she always wanted to work with animals. After leaving the Military, Barb and her fiancé Sean moved to Calgary Alberta where she started off in animal retail working for a retail chain. Barb felt this still wasn’t quite where she wanted to be, and after moving to BC she decided she wanted to switch to the Veterinary world, which she has been a part of since the summer of 2022.

Barb was accepted into the 3-year Distance Learning Veterinary Technology Program at Thompson Rivers University, and while waiting to be accepted at TRU, she completed a Holistic Carnivore Nutrition Certification as well as an Animal Reiki Certification and is working towards an Animal Communication Certification. Barb is one to look at both sides of the coin and believes that learning Western medicine combined with Holistic medicine will give her a better understanding of that.

In her spare time, Barb does some hobby photography and enjoys taking her two pups, Harley and Miah, on adventures around our beautiful island and capturing beautiful photographs.  In the summer, you’ll find Barb catching some sunshine on her paddle board, out fishing rivers, or exploring the back country by ATV with her fiancé Sean.
